What is it?

Simply put – it’s immersive bingo for the millennial generation. Players – the brainchild of the people behind Mecca Bingo – has put a new spin on a traditional British pastime by incorporating live entertainment, comedy and some outrageous prizes into a usually monotonous evening out.

An activity once known as your grandma’s favourite night out is quickly becoming one of the most sought after nights out in the city. Forget every preconception you have ever had about Bingo because you’re going to be in for a surprise as soon as you step through those doors.

Why Should I Go?

Nostalgia.

It would be hard to understand the point of spending a night out at the bingo if it didn’t bring back so many fond childhood memories. The venue and setup of the night is somewhat reminiscent of a cross between The Price Is Right and Blind Date. It was the perfect late 90’s night out.

A selection of prizes ranging from an envelope full of cash through to winning a kayak makes the night and connection between guests so authentic. Of course, no one actually goes in wanting to win a kayak – but by the end of the night, after a couple of drinks, you best believe that the kayak was what everyone wanted. Who needs a bunch of cash anyways?

Who To Go With?

This is a night made for birthdays and work nights out. In a city where service for large groups borders on criminal, it’s rare that we find a gem which encourages everyone to come and enjoy the fun.

Food & Drink

Players has a monthly food residency which is filled by some of London’s most exciting restaurants. This month Players welcomes Cheeky Burger, a husband and wife team who have won ‘The Best Burger Company‘ in the British Street Food Awards and have been listed in Cheap Eats London.

Drinks are cheap and served by some really friendly mixologists who know what they’re talking about without airing a sense of pretentiousness when recommending drinks. This is Camden, not Mayfair after all.

What to Instagram

You’re going to want to keep an eye on the host of the evening. They’re usually very unpredictable, which could result with you ending up on stage in front of 200 people.
